My main areas of focus are directly associated with isolation and loss, past experiences, and
memories. I am often drawn to imagery and places that have a sense of loss and grief. The
colour palette is often muted and restrained and by usage different painterly passages, mark
making, spontaneous lines and brush strokes, I try to find desired meanings and expressions
within surrounding environment. I often try to visualise invisible aspects of ordinary
landscape to depict the constant changes and transformation including scents and sounds.
Lilianna Pasternak is an Adelaide based visual artist. In the late eighties she migrated from
Poland to Australia.
She holds a Master of Visual Art and Design specialising in painting (2012), from the
University of South Australia as well a bachelor’s degree in Visual Art and Design
specialising in painting (2008) and an Advanced Diploma of Advertising and Graphic Design
(1999).
