It’s that time of the year, when Marion’s artistic community get the opportunity to showcase their talents in the 18th Annual City of Marion Community Art Exhibition. There has been an exhibition each year since the Marion Cultural Centre opened in 2001.

This exhibition has become a much anticipated event for all the creative residents of the Marion Council area, and approximately 130 artists will be displaying their work this year. They range from junior artists, hobbyists and ‘weekend dabblers’ – through to professional practitioners. Several older artists are in their 90’s and we also have multiple members of Marion families involved again this year.

All City of Marion residents were invited to participate, and each year we are pleased to see there are a number of new artists becoming involved.

Artwork in all media will be featured, including paintings, textiles, porcelain-on-glaze, photography, needlework & embroidery, timber items, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, and mosaics; even decorative clothing. Most of the artwork will be for sale, at very affordable prices.
The event is fully supported by the City of Marion, with no fee for the artists to enter. In addition, on the launch evening, prizes were presented for the ‘Most Outstanding Artwork’, as well as several ‘Merit Awards’. A ‘People’s Choice’ award will be given at the close of the exhibition.

An added benefit for buyers is that any work purchased may be collected before Christmas – perfect for gift giving over the Festive Season. Normally, artwork would stay on display for the duration of an exhibition.

Gallery M is a great venue for children and adults alike, especially during the holiday period. The varied subject matter of the artwork always makes it very interesting, and younger visitors enjoy discovering the differences in the images on display. Activity sheets for different age groups will be available.
